I. INTRODUCTION:
Lucuma Fruit (Obovata Lucuma H.B.K.); It is an original fruit tree of the Andean area of the Peru,
where one is distributed him, presenting/displaying numerous biological types, many of them in wild form.
The greater concentration of this fruit tree is in valleys of the Peruvian coast and Mountain range;
Cronistas and historians inform into their abundance in Peru having itself found representations of the fruit of lucuma in
huacos and weaves, in the tombs of the cultures previous to the Incas of the Peruvian coast. These testimonies prove that
during centuries it has come using this fruit in the feeding.
From year 1964, the production of lucuma came from established frank plants in the edges of the brooks,
edges of small farms, ways, familiar orchards, etc. Its greater consumption was like fresh fruit directly or in the ice cream
preparation and at the present time, this processing itself at industrial level, in order to obtain its flour for the elaboration
of ice creams and desserts in general.
The Program of Native Fruit trees of the company DISTRIBUIDORA INDUSTRIAL MADRID SRL., directed by its
General Manager, Industrialist; Mr. Jorge Madrid, promoter of the agricultural industry of the plants and natural fruits of
the Peru, from 1990 this led the investigation of this fruit tree with respect to culture methods completely, genetic improvement
and industrialization. The results of these works have allowed to obtain three varieties, the same ones that is being distributed
and being lead rationally in different zones from the country.
In our country this being increased the culture of lúcumo by its adaptation to the conditions of our
coast, Andean valleys and eyebrow of forest, and cone can already be considered it a fruit tree of great future, by its nutritious
value and pleasant flavor.
